VSE wants to hear from you!

Dear members,

We would like to hear from you!

VSE has been contacted by an international consultancy called Tetra Tech as they are carrying out a study on the Consular Protection Directive. The study seeks to gather evidence to assess the functioning of the Directive and to carry out an impact assessment for a possible future initiative aimed at addressing the shortcomings identified, in particular to enhance the protection of all EU citizens in times of crisis.

We would therefore like to ask you whether you can share some concrete examples of how EU citizens have sought assistance from consulates abroad. Examples can include:

  • Situations where EU citizens have sought assistance from their own consulate abroad and have received support (or not);
  • Situations where EU citizens have gone in a consulate from another country that their own abroad and have received support (or not).

Your input is crucial as it can influence whether victims of crime and assistance provided by consulates will be included in the revision of the Consular Protection Directive.

If you would like to share any examples, please write to Léa Meindre-Chautrand, VSE Policy Officer: lea@victimsupporteurope.eu

We acknowledge the short timeframe but we would welcome your comments before the end of the week.

Thanks for your cooperation!
