Regional Knowledge Exchange Event

Every year Victim Support Europe is organising a Regional Knowledge Exchange Event in one of the European cities, offering a unique opportunity for victim support practitioners that are eager to foster a dialogue between a broader public and get knowledge on how to improve victim support services in their countries.

We select participating countries based on somewhat shared legal traditions and (to at least an extent) cultural values, but also having in mind that the countries invited share difficulties in providing generic nation-wide services to victims and the implementation of the EU Victims’ Rights Directive. Moreover, bearing in mind that naturally increased cross-border exchange between neighbouring countries is very likely to result in an increased incidence of cross-border victimisation between neighbours, we found the possibility of looking into those shared issues important for our present work and for our planning for our (and your) future.

Participating organisations come from around the region to discuss ways to work towards common and individual challenges, best practices and ways to improve victim support services and rights across the region.

2019

The event took place on 21 and 22 May 2019 and was co-organised by VSE and its Croatian members Udruga za podršku žrtvama I svjedocima, with the support of the Croatian Ministry of Justice. The event brought together 24 participants from nine countries (Slovenia, Romania, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Hungary, Albania, Serbia, Croatia, Greece and Italy), both members and non-members of VSE.

2018

VSE organised its first Regional Knowledge event in Split, Croatia. The event took place on 11 and 12 October 2018 and was co-organised by VSE and its Croatian members, in particular Bijeli krug Hrvatske and Victim and Witness Support Office of the Ministry of Justice. The event brought together 14 organisations from four countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Romania), both members and non-members of VSE.
