Our History

The history of Victim Support Europe is not just a history of the organisation. It is closely linked to the history of the European movement for victims’ rights. We think it is important to document the developments during the early stages of the organisation, so we can remember, appreciate and learn from our history.

VSE’s history in one document

This document covers the establishment of Victim Support Europe, its structure, policies, work and its relationship with international organisations. The timeline takes us up to 2005.
The next chapter will be updated as part of our 30th anniversary celebration.

VSE’s 30th Anniversary Celebration

The documentary will be filmed in Autumn 2020 during our Annual Conference in Berlin when we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the organisation.

Many people will be interviewed during the Berlin conference, they will tell their stories about VSE and share their memories and reflections.

The final product will contain a history of VSE as told by many people involved with the organisation as members, board and staff. This is not by any means a complete story of our organisation, however, we hope that this documentary succeeds in capturing the moods of the people involved and the challenges and the achievements of the organisation during its relatively long and dynamic history.

We hope this documentary can be a useful tool not just for reflections, but also something you can use in your organisations and with your partners to increase the knowledge of VSE and the European victims’ rights movement among your members and greater awareness of the relevance and importance of European dimension of our join work.
